Technical Assistance Grants
Purpose
Technical Assistance Grants (TAGs) are
intended to increase public awareness and
understanding of remedial activities
taking place in a community. TAGs
can be used by a recipient to obtain
independent technical assistance from a
qualified environmental professional in
interpreting and understanding
environmental information about the nature
and extent of contamination at a site and
about the proposed and selected remedy and
its implementation. TAGs can also be
used for community outreach related to the
environmental information. TAGs can
be used at sites that are listed as Class
2 on the NYS Registry of Inactive
Hazardous Waste Disposal Sites or sites
being remediated under the state’s
Brownfield Cleanup Program as long as DEC
has determined that the site poses a
significant threat to human health and the
environment.
Applications are accepted continuously and
funding is limited to $50,000 per site.
