Purpose

This program provides businesses with the opportunity to utilize renewable energy to self generate power for their business.
 
Wind: under the program, qualifying businesses can receive up to $3.50 per kwh as incentive to install the wind generator up to a limit of $135600, or 60% of the installed cost, whichever is less.
 
Solar: under the program, qualifying businesses can receive up to $2.75 per kwh as incentive to install the solar generator up to a limit of $145000, or 50% of the installed cost, whichever is less.
 
Businesses taking advantage of the renewables program may also qualify for net metering, which allows businesses to sell unused wind energy back to LIPA. They may also qualify for tax credits and/or other incentives offered by local municipalities. Program incentives and qualifying requirements are subject to change and are based on the current program parameters.
