NYPA
-
world trade center economic recovery
power program
Purpose
NYPA supplies 80 MW of power that
previously served the
World
Trade Center
to downtown
New York City
businesses affected by the September 11
terrorist attacks. The power is currently
supplied to roughly 30 companies. Allocations are
for three-year terms. A 2005 state law
included provisions to renew contracts and
ensure that future allocations are made to
companies in the Liberty Zone (the area of
lower Manhattan south of Canal Street) and
the Resurgence Zone (the area between
Canal and Houston Streets) of lower Manhattan. The power is
supplied from a portfolio purchased to
serve NYPA’s New York City governmental customers and is
provided at the same rates charged to
those governmental customers.
Eligibility
Businesses affected by the 9/11
terrorist attacks, located in Liberty Zone
and Resurgence Zone.
