Technology Transfer Incentive Program
Purpose
The State Budget provides support for
university-based technology transfer
initiatives. The
Technology Transfer Incentive Program
is specifically designed to help make the
rapid transfer of new ideas and new
technology from the research lab to the
marketplace.
The Technology Transfer Incentive Program

make the rapid transfer of new ideas and
new technology from the research lab to
the marketplace.
This program helps New York companies
commercialize high-tech innovations in
partnership with colleges and universities
by providing awards to institutions of
higher education to move leading-edge
technologies from the research lab to the
marketplace.
The Technology Transfer Incentive Program
supports a wide array of activities
associated with bringing new technologies
to the marketplace including improvement
of product prototypes and existing
commercial products, new product
development, development of manufacturing
processes to commercialize prototypes, and
filing patent applications.
Eligibility
Applicants are required to be institutions of higher education or research institutions. They are expected to partner with a company to bring the technology to market. The partner is required to provide matching funds.
